Sony Announces 3-D Games and Details for 'Move' Controllers
LOS ANGELES - Sony confirmed details about its upcoming Move motion controller, including pricing and compatible games at an E3 press conference today.
The company spent considerable time demonstrating how accurate the 1-to-1 motion tracking of the PlayStation Move controller is and showcased a sorcery game where Move is used as a wand and a Tiger Woods golf game where the controller is used as a golf club.
Sony executive Kazuo Hirai compared it to other motion controllers by saying, "The difference comes down to one word: realism."
Sony confirmed pricing details for the new Move controllers. The Move controller will cost $49.99, the navigational controller (the smaller secondary one) will be $29.99 and a bundle containing both controllers and the Sports Champion motion control game will be $99.99.
Sony will also offer a bundle with all of these items plus a PS3 console for $399.99 as well. Move will be available in North America on September 19 and in Europe on September 15.
Sony will also invest heavily in 3-D games, including "Killzone 3," the "Sly Collection," "Motorstorm Apocalypse," "Crysis 2," "Mortal Kombat," "Tron Evolution," "NBA 2K11" and many more.
An upcoming software update will give the PS3 3-D capabilities, Hirai said, so current owners can play 3-D content .
Hirai also announced that Sony is planning an enormous cross-promotion campaign with Coca-Cola in which 130 million Coke products will offer a chance to win free PS3 consoles and games.
