Apple's success with the hugely popular iPad has continued right on into the next-generation iPhone, which sold out on the first day it was available for preorder online.
At the Apple store, the shipping date for pre-ordered iPhones has changed from June 24 to July 2. AT&T has reportedly also sold out its first batch of phones, according to multiple reports.
The iPhone 4 became available for pre-order on Monday , with units selling out in less than 24 hours going into Tuesday. According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple moved 600,000 units on day one. Demand was so high that many people trying to place online orders encountered technical difficulties, Apple acknowledged.
The new iPhone will still be available, of course, when it arrives in stores on June 24, but expect a fast sellout of the device there as well.
