Adobe to Release Protected Mode for Reader
Adobe is fortifying the walls around its popular Reader software by releasing a new version with Protected Mode.
Part of Adobe Reader X, the new Protected Mode is Adobe's stab at sandbox security technology, a mechanism for allowing programs to run separately under highly restricted guidelines. The goal of sandbox security is to avoid corruptions and vulnerabilities from spreading between programs.
Adobe Reader X will be released sometime in November, according to Dennis Fisher of antivirus maker Kaspersky Lab.
