Microsoft has released patches to fix 11 critical vulnerabilities affecting Office and PowerPoint, but a fix for an Internet Explorer flaw is still pending.
Released Nov. 9, the MS10-087 patches cover flaws in Microsoft Office that could allow the program to be remotely attacked if a corrupted Rich Text Format (RTF) file is opened. Other patches address similar issues in PowerPoint and Forefront Unified Access Gateway.
Microsoft neglected to issue a patch for a critical vulnerability that has been affecting the popular Internet Explorer Web browser, noted researcher Brian Krebs of the blog Krebs on Security.
