WikiLeaks Worm Hits Web
It didn't take long for a malware campaign capitalizing on the public interest in WikiLeaks to surface.
Today (Dec. 7) saw both the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and a new social engineering scam preying on the worldwide WikiLeaks fascination. Researchers at the security firm Symantec noticed a spam campaign making its way around the Web with the title, IRAN Nuclear BOMB!
The messages, which read OBAMA is an IMPOSTOR! and include a URL, purport to come from WikiLeaks.org.
Clicking on the link automatically causes users' systems to run a corrupted file, which allows an attacker to steal passwords , issue commands, log keystrokes, and read, write and execute files on infected computers.
