Upgrade Now: Firefox 4 Web Browser More Secure
Mozilla's new Firefox 4.0 Web browser contains several features designed to keep Web surfers safe from malicious online attacks.
Released yesterday (March 22), Firefox 4.0 comes with a do-not-track feature that enables users to prevent websites and third-party advertisers from tracking their online behavior.
Included in the updated browser is HTTP Strict Transport Security, which establishes a secure, encrypted connection with websites to prevent sensitive data from being intercepted during a site's log-in process.
Another feature, Content Security Policy (CSP), keeps Firefox safe from cross-site scripting attacks commonly deployed by attackers to steal data and distribute malware, according to the Mozilla Developer Network blog.
Mozilla Firefox 4.0 can be downloaded for free at Mozilla's website. In the first 24 hours it was available, Firefox was downloaded nearly three million times, the New York Times reported. Internet Explorer 9 was downloaded 2.35 million times in the 24 hours after its release last week.
