Funny Facebook Scam Multiplies Like Bunnies
If you wouldn't be caught dead in a bunny suit, then you should have no problem avoiding two new online scams.
Exploiting Facebook's loosely controlled photo tagging capability, online pranksters are executing a scam that tags users and their friends in a photo of a girl dressed in a seductive and silly bunny suit, experts at the security firm Sophos reported.
The bunny girl photo includes a message that users can click to (supposedly) see who your top facebook profile stalkers are!
Of course it's a trick, and, like countless Facebook scams , the rogue link directs users to a third-party application that, if installed, can access your profile and like bunnies keep multiplying the scam.
A separate but equally amusing spam email campaign is spreading across the Web, hitting inboxes with the message: We are writhing [sic] to know if it's true that you are DEAD?
The poorly spelled message informs recipients we received a notification from one MR. FREEDIE FICKLIN of USA stating that you are DEAD. Mr. Ficklin, the email says, will claim your funds if you don't confirm if you are dead or alive within seven days.
Unless you have, in fact, died, or you have a relative named Freddie Ficklin, this particular email scam should be easy to avoid.
