Apple Makes App to Give iPhone Owners Free Bumper
When Apple decided to give iPhone 4 buyers a free Bumper cover, it was no small decision. Today, Apple has explained just how it plans to do that for the over 3 million people who bought the iPhone 4.
And surprise, surprise, it involves an iPhone app.
When Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the free Bumper plan , Apple had yet to formulate a plan for giving one to each owner. Already, reports are coming in that those who already bought a Bumper are receiving refunds.
For those who haven't bought one yet, Apple has released the "iPhone 4 Case Program" app into the App Store. iPhone 4 users should download it, open it and sign in through their iTunes Store account or Apple ID. The app then brings up a selection of Bumpers or third-party cases, and the user simply has to pick one.
For those who purchased the iPhone 4 before July 23, the deadline for ordering a free Bumper is August 22, 2010, so don't dawdle. All other users need to select a free Bumper within 30 days of the iPhone purchase. This program will be open to all iPhone buyers until September 30, 2010. Delivery is expected to be three to five weeks.
