"Gangnam Style" fever is still going strong. At Maker Faire, a festival for tinkerers held earlier this month in New York City, TechNewsDaily saw a decidedly "maker" take on the trend: dancing hobbyist's robots.
These little dancing automatons are made from an educational kit called Bioloid, made by the robotics company Robotis. The robots' moves are pre-programmed into them using Bioloid software. (They aren't able to sense beats and groove on their own, like more sophisticated robots.) The kit's programming interface is based on C, a basic computer language, and Bioloid owners may eventually learn the structure and grammar of C from programming their own bots, according to the Robotis website.
Robotis is based in the Geumcheon neighborhood in Seoul, South Korea, just a few neighborhoods west of Gangnam.
