Apple Safari Update Allows Browser Extensions
One of the biggest advantages Mozilla Firefox has had over Apple's Safari browser is extensions, which add additional functionality to a Web browser. With the release of Apple Safari 5.0.1, all that has changed.
Safari now has a nice selection of extensions available for download. While there aren't as many as can be found for Firefox (thousands!), there are plenty of useful extensions . The gallery displays extensions for Twitter, Bing Highlights, Amazon, Major League Baseball, eBay, Instapaper, the New York Times and many more.
Installation is easy, too. Firefox extensions usually require a browser restart, but Safari extensions download and install almost instantaneously. Extensions are managed through a menu in Safari preferences; that includes all the standard customization functions as will as options to update or uninstall individual extensions.
Extensions, as well as the latest version of Safari, are available on Apple's extensions page.
