Facebook Photos Go Big
![]() |
Facebook today announced an update to its photo section that may make its 500 million active users smile: now, a photo album will automatically display up to 200 additional photos on a single scrollable page. No more clicking next or trying to guess which page has the sought after photo.
Facebook search is powered by Bing , and it appears the photo album redesign is similar to Bing's image search display. Facebook assured users the new photo layout will not slow down their browsing experience because, like Bing Images, the page is populated with more photos as users scroll down the page. Thumbnails are also about 20 percent larger, offering a more detailed preview.
The photo album redo follows other improvements to the Facebook photo database including face detection for easier tagging and an increase in the maximum display size from 604 pixels wide to 720 pixels.
More than 2.5 billion photos are uploaded each month on Facebook and the grand total currently stands at more than 30 billion photos in Facebook's vast "photo album."
