Dell Streak, Droid Incredible to Get Android Froyo Update
While the latest version of the Anroid operating system, 2.2 Froyo, has received praise for new features and fixed bugs, there aren't really any Android devices using it yet. But a few devices should be getting it soon.
The Dell Streak tablet disappointed potential buyers when it was revealed it would be running Android 1.6 instead of the anticipated Android 2.1. But Dell's Lionel Menchaca has good news because the company is considering upgrading the Streak directly to Android 2.2. There is no set date for that upgrade though as Dell is apparently still looking into the matter.
The Droid Incredible smartphone, made by HTC , could have Android Froyo by the end of the week, on the other hand. According to anonymous sources, Verizon will begin an over-the-air rollout of Android Froyo to the Incredible on August 18. Not all Incredibles will get the update on that day, but owners should see the update within a few days.
Some of the improvements in Android Froyo includ e built-in tethering and mobile hotspot functionality, external storage for apps, better camera controls, better voice recognition and Adobe Flash 10.1 support.
