Panasonic Launches Smaller 3-D TV with Twitter App
One of the few remaining manufacturers of plasma TVs, Panasonic, launched two new 3-D plasma HDTV sets today.
The Viera GT25 Series 42-inch model is priced at $1,699.95 and the 50-inch model at $2,099.95. Both models will be available at the end of the month. Active shutter 3-D glasses are required for viewing content and will be sold separately according to Panasonic.
The 42-inch screen size is a first for Panasonic and the smallest in its lineup of 3-D plasma TVs, designed to appeal to video gamers and offer a lower price point for first time buyers.
The company offers 3-D plasma TVs all the way up to 152-inches.
With this launch, Panasonic added a Twitter app to its growing list of internet connection options across its Viera lines, including Amazon Video-on-Demand, Netflix, YouTube, Bloomberg, Pandora, and Skype. Twitter will be added to Panasonic's Blu-ray players at a later date, the company said in a statement.
