Verizon Adds Skype Mobile to Some Phones
While networks have traditionally been aloof concerning the calling service Skype, Verizon has included Skype Mobile on several phones.
Verizon said it would bring Skype Mobile to many phones earlier this year, and many of them were smartphones. The phones currently sporting Skype Mobile don't fit into that category , however. So far, the Samsung Reality, LG Chocolate Touch and LG enV Touch are the only phone to have Skype Mobile included.
Skype allows users to make phone calls, many of them free, over an internet connection instead of a standard cell network voice connection. Networks haven't been too keen on customers using their data connections, which are already too congested, to make free calls.
Many experts expect Verizon to bring Skype Mobile to other handsets, including smartphones, although there is no indication on when Skype will come to Verizon's growing stable of Android phones .
