HP Confirms webOS Tablet Coming Early 2011
The rumors have indicated Hewlett-Packard would soon have a webOS tablet, but now the company has officially confirmed that it will sell a webOS tablet in the first quarter of 2011.
The news came from an earnings call with HP executives. A question about the iPad eating into netbook sales prompted HP to make the announcement about its own tablet plans .
"You'll see us with a Microsoft product out in the near future and a webOS-based product in early 2011," said HP's Todd Bradley, coincidentally the man behind the previous rumors of an upcoming webOS tablet.
Unfortunately, executives didn't elaborate on any specific details.
The Microsoft product he is referring to is likely the business-oriented HP Slate , which has been canceled and resurrected several times now. The webOS tablet will capitalize on the webOS platform HP obtained after acquiring Palm.
