First Look at LG's Windows Phone 7 Series Device
Microsoft has shown off its new smartphone operating system several times since it was announced two weeks ago, but the new system was always shown on an unbranded demo device. Now LG has given us a first look at a real Windows Phone 7 Series phone.
The big reveal came unexpectedly during a taping of the Engadget Show. Aaron Woodman, director for Consumer Experiences at Microsoft, was being interviewed about the new operating system when he pulled a working model out to show on camera.
While this isn't a final production model, it's no surprise that LG would be floating pre-production prototypes to gauge reaction, especially because the company has openly planned to sell a WP7S phone this September.
The LG Windows Phone has a slide-out keyboard, which is one of the three different designs Microsoft allows in their new, stringent rules for WP7S devices. It's slightly thicker than the iPhone or Nexus One and has the three dedicated buttons (also mandated by Microsoft) for Back, Home and Search. Also included are a 5 megapixel camera and a headphone jack.
Woodman offered no further details about the device.
